Aleksandr Vasilyevich Sarychev ( *02.08.1909 - † 07.12.1986)
A. Sarychev was (and still is) one of the best chess study composers in his country (Russia/Azerbeidjan). His chess studies are classics today and are among the best in chess literature worldwide.
Aleksandr Sarychev was an International Master for Composition since 1979.
A famous chess study
A chess study with his twin brother Kirill Vasilyevich Sarychev (2 August 1909 - †1950), published 1928 is world-famous because of the paradoxical key move of the white king at the beginning (1.Kc8!!) This chess study with only 5 pieces by the Twin brothers Sarychev has been published again and again in all chess magazines and chess books in the world.
In this study (Kd7/Kf3), White moves his king in front of the white pawn's square, thus provoking the black pawn to move. Seemingly uncatchable, the white king is able to catch up with the black passed pawn just in time. This manoeuvre is also known from a famous pawn study by the chessplayer and chess composer Richard Réti.(* 28 May 1889 in Pezinok near Bratislava; † 6 June 1929 in Prague).
"By the way. You could move all the pieces of the white and the black one row to the left and the chess study would still be correct and the same!" (Peter Krug)
