Ernst Otto Martin (19.01.1886-14.01.1971) from Leipzig learnt to play chess at the age of 17, and just over a year later he published his first of a total of around 700 to 800 chess problems. He composed in all genres (including retros and chess studies) and his problems were characterised by their difficulty.
