František Hladík (01.09.1901-18.09.1971), a chess composer of the Bohemian school with a tendency towards strategic themes, was born in Pilsen in the Czech Republic.                                                                                                                   Around 200 chess problems can be traced back to him, the focus of his compositional activity was on the three-move; his 17 points in the FIDE albums were all in this area.
