Jan Hartong is a revered giant of chess composition.
Dr. Niemeijer wrote an interesting book comparing Hartong with Lev Loshinsky: "Twee ziele Tweegedachten" (1959) as well as a monograph dedicated to Jan Hartong in the "Probleemcomponisten" series (no.IV, 1946).
