Leonard Nicolaas de Jong (* Utrecht, 30 March 1869  -  † Utrecht, 13 November 1937)

He was a famous Dutch chess composer.

From 1895 to 1897 he was editor of the journal Tijdschrift Van de Koninklijke Nederlandse Schaakbond . Although he did not compose many problems, he is known for the originality of his ideas and his refined construction technique.

Meindert Niemeijer, his great admirer, wrote about him in the first volume of the Probleemcomponisten series (Gouda, 1941), which contained 50 of his compositions
