The author of these lines of these lines would now like to emphasise the human qualities of the deceased too early. Samuel lsenegg-er possessed an exemplary character. He did not impose himself and yet he was able to pass on his extensive knowledge and his great advice to to the man. His calmly asked and factually sound advice and contributions to discussions never failed to have an impact. he was able to express himself in a sympathetic manner.
Samuel Isenegger was a member of the Board of the BSG in the 1950s (during the presidency of the reporting organisation). At his suggestion, many external many foreign ‘G-asfspiele’ were organised at his suggestion. His branched relations to foreign countries favoured our arrangements for competitions and participation in international chess tournaments. These have taken us to Monfbéliard, Mulhouse and Paris in France, Worms, Sfuffgarf and Munich in Germany and Salzburg in Austria. In Italy we travelled several times to the international festival on Lake Garda.
A special event in 1957 was the holiday trip of a group of four unenlwegfer chess players to Venice via Innsbruck. On the way back we took part in the
inlernafional meeting from Lake Garda. The variety of experiences enriched our experiences and strengthen our friendship.
We will never forget the many wonderful times we spent with Sami. We can only overcome the bitter blow of fate that has befallen us by only be able to overcome it with the comfort of knowing that we had the pleasure of experiencing with him for years. Until the end of my own days, I will honour my dear friend an honourable and heartfelt memory."
