Sergey Pavlovich Filaretov

Study composer (Russia, * Saransk 1898 - † 1928)

There is currently no known portrait. There are also no exact dates available of his life. He was from Saransk, in the region of Pensenk, who worked as a journalist and whose chess games were known in the 1920s. Despite of dying young with about 30 years, he managed to compose numerous chess problems and a score of chess studies with very ingenious ideas and brief solutions, being distinguished with several prizes in competitions, in addition to the publication of five of these chess studies in the first Album of the FIDE.
