Vladimir Kozhakin, Russia (* Wednesday 17.07.1957 in the zodiac sign of Cancer    –   † Saturday 16.03.2024)

Владимир Владимирович Кожакин (17-07-1957 - 16-03-2024) Russian chess composer (Vladimir Vladimirovich Kozhakin)

Vladimir Kozhakin (1957–2024) was a prolific Russian chess composer known for creating over 1900 chess problems, including many miniatures and helpmates. He served as an International Judge for threemovers, edited the chess composition magazine "Kudesnik", and established a large collection of miniatures. Kozhakin also trained children in chess solving and composing and organized many chess composition contests.

Memory

"Vladimir Kozhakin was a very prolific author of more than 1900 chess problems. He composed direct mates (especially miniatures) and helpmates. He was International Judge for threemovers, the editor of magazine "Кудесник" ("Kudesnik"), the founder of a collection of 46,000 miniatures and trainer in chess solving and chess composing."

"Vladimir Kozhakin, arguably the world's most important composer and collector of miniatures, died at the age of 66. He also became known for publishing his own chess problem magazine, “Kudesnik.” Not much more seems to be known about him in Moscow, but that is hardly surprising, given that his hometown of Magadan is almost 5,000 km further east in Siberia!"  Wilfried Neef (Problemschachaufgabe 857)
