William W. Greenwood (28-12-1836 - 11-07-1922) British chess composer

On the 80th birthday of the English problem composer William W. Greenwood (28.12.1836-11.7.1922) he was described in 1916 in the magazine Our Folder of the Good Companion Chess Problem Club as "the World's Dean of the Problem Composers"; a title of honour that can no longer be achieved so young today, as a glance at the above list of jubilarians shows. Greenwood composed for more than 60 years, many two-moves in the Good Companion style, but also self-mats.
