Chess composer

The Russian chess composer Vladimir Iosifovich Schif (5 May 1897-31 October 1970), who died 50 years ago, composed three- and multi-movement pieces, totalling around 75 chess problems - not a large output, but of consistently high quality. Many of his compositions were written in collaboration with another great composer, Lew Loschinski.
