Imants Skrastiņš, born in Skulte, was a Latvian actor.
In 1951, he moved with his family to Taurupe, where he attended the local school.
After finishing the 7th grade, he moved to Riga and graduated from Riga Secondary School No. 1.
While still in school, he began acting in films. Skrastiņš made his debut as Artūrs in the movie "Rita" (1957).
In 1963, he graduated from the Latvian State Conservatory and became an actor at the Youth Theatre.
His younger brother, Guntis Skrastiņš, was also an actor at the Youth Theatre.


In the 1980s, Imants Skrastiņš gained wide popularity by performing songs by Raimonds Pauls.
In 2004, he began working at the National Radio and Television Council. He was also a longtime director of radio theatre.
In 1981, he was awarded the title of Merited Stage Artist of the Latvian SSR.
In 1989, he received the title of People's Stage Artist of the Latvian SSR.
In 2001, he was awarded the Aleksandrs Čaks Prize.
In 2003, he was decorated with the Order of the Three Stars.
