Three dead after shooting in Uppsala
The alarm came in just after 5 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
– Several callers have heard bangs near Vaksala Square, says police spokesperson Magnus Jansson Klarin.
Three people have died, police say. There are no reports of any more injuries.
There are large roadblocks at Hjalmar Brantingsgatan in central Uppsala , near Vaksala Square. A large police operation is underway, including a helicopter and dog patrols.
– We are investigating the incident as a murder. A so-called special incident has been initiated in order to add extra resources to the investigation. It is Valborg in Uppsala, so there were already a lot of police resources on site, says Magnus Jansson Klarin.
Hunting on an electric scooter
The hunt for one or more perpetrators is now underway and the police would like to receive tips from the public. No one has been arrested.
– We do not know if there is one or more perpetrators, but we have received information that a masked person on an electric scooter has left the scene, says Magnus Jansson Klarin.
The police are working to identify the deceased. Next of kin have not been notified. Right now they are working broadly and looking at several motives.
– We cannot go into exactly what is revealed right now because we have an ongoing investigation into murder.
A witness who was in the area tells Expressen that he heard at least four shots and at first thought they were fireworks.
