Vera Obolenskaya (born Makarova, June 11, 1911, Baku – August 4, 1944, Berlin) was a Russian-born French Resistance fighter during World War II, known by the codename "Vicky."
Born in Baku to vice-governor Apollon Makarov, she emigrated to Paris in 1920. She joined the Resistance in 1940, working with the Organisation civile et militaire (OCM), gathering intelligence, aiding Soviet POWs, and organizing escapes. Arrested by the Gestapo in 1943, she revealed nothing despite interrogations, earning the nickname "Princess – I don’t know." Executed in Plötzensee Prison, she was posthumously awarded France’s Legion of Honor, Resistance Medal, War Cross, and the Soviet Order of the Patriotic War.
