George Ho Ho-chi, GBS, OBE, JP (3 November 1918 – 4 June 2014) was a Hong Kong media mogul. Fifth son of influential Hong Kong businessman Robert Hotung, George Ho was the founder of the Commercial Radio Hong Kong and Commercial Television. He still kept the title of honorary chairman when he died on 4 June 2014.
Family and career
George Ho was an illegitimate son of Robert Hotung, who was at the time the most influential Eurasian compradore in the colony. George was bequeathed a substantial amount of money directly and indirectly. George Ho studied at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Instead of joining the family flagship company, George Ho founded his own business, Commercial Radio Hong Kong by obtaining a radio broadcasting license through the connections of his father. George Ho gradually became an influential tycoon in the colony.
He had also been director of the Jardine Matheson Holdings, Hongkong Land and East Asia Bank.
