Iosef (or Iossif) Mikhailovich Krikheli (or Kricheli) (* Sunday, 10.05.1931  - † Tuesday, 20.09.1988 in Sochumi)

Chess composer of moremovers and helpmates. He was also a study composer.

 He had a doctorate in physics.

Iossif or Josif or Joseph Michailowitsch Krikheli or Kricheli ( Russian: Крихели, Иосиф Михайлович ) was a Soviet composer of chess studies and chess problems, born on 10. May 1931 in Tskhinvali in South Ossetia and died there on 22. September 1988. 

Death

In 1988, on Tuesday he died of a heart attack during a game of blitz chess at the All-Union Congress of Chess Composers in Sochumi.

His compositional successes

 He has been International Master of Chess Composition since 1971 and International Grand Master of Chess Composition in 1984 and has published almost 1,500 chess compositions, including about fifty studies.

Specialising in moremover problems (more than five moves) and help mates, he is considered one of the greatest problem composers of the 20th century.
