Alexey Studenetsky was a strong chess player and study composer born in Azerbaijan, Chernigovsk, who settled in Cheboksari and worked as a journalist.
From 1928, when he began his activity, he composed about a hundred works, between chess problems and chess studies, several of which were awarded or distinguished.
He was also interested in the theoretical aspects of the game in the finals, particularly of pawns, having published many of his conclusions.
