Sergey Pavlovich Filaretov

Chess composer of endgame studies and chess problems (Russia, * Saransk 1898  - † 1928)

There is currently no known portrait. There are also no exact dates of life.                                                                                  He is from Saransk, in the region of Pensenk, who worked as a journalist and whose chess games were known in the 1920s.
Despite of dying young, he managed to compose numerous problems and a score of studies with very ingenious ideas and brief solutions,
being distinguished with several prizes in competitions, in addition to the publication of five of these finals in the first Album of the FIDE.

About him

"Sergey Pavlovich Filaretov is an unknown study composer because of the few chess studies he published in his short life span of 30 years. All the more surprising are some of his works, which are close to the game and deal with sharp tactical play on both sides."  Peter Siegfried Krug
