Leopold Jüptner (16.6.1906-24.12.1971)
Chess composer
Leopold Jüptner (16.6.1906-24.12.1971) took over the position of die Schwalbe magazine treasurer at the end of 1963. His composition activities were limited to the period before the Second World War; in the 1930s he also ran a chess column in the Grünberger Wochenblatt, a newspaper published daily in the Silesian town of Grünberg at the time, until 1941. He was a judge, initially in the GDR, from where he moved to Hamm in West Germany at the end of 1959. There he soon got to know his professional colleague Speckmann, whom he visited regularly. Half a century ago, he died of a heart attack on Christmas Eve.
