Karl-Heinz Ahlheim (* 13 June 1933 in Ginsheim; † 15 October 1996) was a German chess composer.

Chess composition
Ahlheim preferred to compose more movers, but he also rarely dealt with auxiliary and self-mates. He created a total of 14 studies and several hundred problems, eleven of which were included in the FIDE albums (meaning he was only one entry short of the title "Fide Master").

He had been a member of the Schwalbe Association since 1959.

Privately
Professionally, Ahlheim was editor-in-chief at the Bibliographisches Institut, publishing encyclopaedias such as Die Umwelt des Menschen in the Wie funktioniert das? series and dictionaries.

Published books
Karl-Heinz Ahlheim (ed.) The human environment. From: How does it work? Meyers Lexikonverlag, Mannheim 1975, ISBN 3-411-00981-0.
