Bernhard Schauer (* 29 January 1929 in Bielstein (Wiehl); † 15 April 1995 in Gummersbach) was a German chess composer.

Life
Schauer mainly composed multiple-move pieces, occasionally he also created auxiliary mates and self-mates. Many of his works have won prizes. For his 21.5 points in the FIDE albums, he was awarded the title of International Master of Chess Composition in 1993. As bishops and knights often play decisive roles in his tasks, he earned the nickname "Master of Light Pieces".

From 1962 to 1969, he was head of the multi-move section of the magazine Die Schwalbe.
