Paul Weyl (03-07-1894 - 10-08-1974) German chess composer

Paul Weyl (3 July 1894-10 August 1974) was the son of the great problem collector Oskar Korschelt. He learnt to play chess from him and was introduced to problem chess by him. His first compositions appeared around 1910.

Having recourse to his father's collection enabled him to carry out research into chess history, which resulted in several articles, including an extensive work on Heinrich Eichstätt (1823-1905) in Deutscher Wochenschach in 1920, whose compositional activities began in Loveday's time and extended into the early days of the New German School.
