Chess player and chess composer
He was born Géza Gombik (he changed his surname to Marót on 22 September 1941. His father was Pál Gombík, his mother was Ilona Gombík, née Brecska).
According to the MÁV archives, he was put into service on 7 June 1938, with track maintenance, after 1951, so-called inspector (this is a railway rank), then chief inspector in Vác, he retired on 31 May 1972.
He was well known as a correspondence chess player, he reached the final of the Hungarian Championship three times (18th, 21st and 23rd), his best result was 5-7 in the 21st final in 1982-83rd place among 16 participants (9 points).
As a puzzle creator, according to the anthology, he mainly created three- checkmate puzzles, about 100 art works of chess composition. He later stopped solving puzzles.
In the 1930s, he was a multiple champion of Vác as a chess player at the board.
