Heinrich S. Eichstädt (* Thursday, 27 November 1823 in Fraustadt - † Sunday, 23 April 1905 in Trebnitz) was a German chess composer.
His life
Eichstädt was the son of an economic inspector. He attended grammar school in Bromberg and then worked as a teacher and tutor in several German (now partly Polish) towns.
Chess composition
Although Eichstädt only composed 78 chess problems, he is regarded as one of the pioneers of the modern chess problem, as he mainly wrote problems of ideas and combinations after his initial manuscripts. He is thus counted as a forerunner of the new German school
