Wichard von Alvensleben (* 11 July 1937 in Schlochau; † 2 May 2016 in Hanover) was a German ministerial councillor, lawyer, Go and chess player and problem chess composer from Hanover.

He was German Go champion five times in 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1974 and European champion from 1961 to 1964. In 1963 he represented Germany at the Amateur World Championship in Japan and reached 4th place with the German team behind the Asian teams China, Japan and Korea.

His highest rank was 5th Dan (5d).

In the 1970s he turned primarily to chess, including problem chess. Until the 1990s he played actively in chess clubs in Göttingen and Bad Salzdetfurth. He primarily composed auxiliary mating problems.

Wichard von Alvensleben was the nephew of the officer of the same name, Wichard von Alvensleben, son of Udo von Alvensleben and came from the von Alvensleben family.
