Vladimír Pachman (* April 16, 1918 in Bělá pod Bezdězem - † August 8, 1984 in Prague) was a Czech grandmaster of chess composition.

Chess composition (chess problems and endgame studies)
Pachman's first work appeared in 1934, and he published more than 1200 exercises and chess studies, mainly three-move and moremovers pieces of the Bohemian School. Some compositions were in the New German style. He was a thirteen-time national champion in chess composition.

Author
From 1952 to 1953 and from 1958 to 1965, Pachman was editor of the chess problems section of Československý Šach. He also published a number of books and articles on chess composition.

Functionary
In 1952 and from 1958 to 1964 Pachman was chairman of the Czechoslovak Organization for Chess Composition, from 1956 to 1963 he was a delegate of the PCCC. In 1975 or 1976 he was awarded the title of Grand Master of Chess Composition.

Outside of chess                                                                                                                                                                  Vladimir Pachman studied at the Faculty of Philosophy at Charles University in Prague[4] and later taught philosophy. Luděk Pachman was his brother.
