He was a mechanical engineer by profession. He published his chess composition studies under the pseudonym Hufendiek.
Chess composition
Since 1934, Hufendiek has published more than 100 endgame studies and was one of the most productive German study composers of the last century. With one exception, he published his works in German periodicals, most of them in Schach-Echo. There were initially no annual tournaments, which explains the small number of awards he won.
