Roman Sołtyk, né le 29 février 1790 à Varsovie, décédé le 22 octobre 1843 à Saint-Germain-en-Laye, est un général polonais au service du Premier Empire, inhumé au Cimetière ancien de Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
Il est le fils de Stanislas Sołtyk, et le demi-frère présumé de Joséphine Rostkowska.
- Il participe à la campagne de 1809
- 1811 reçoit le grade de Chef d’escadron
- 1812 il participe à la Campagne de Russie (1812) en tant que chef d’escadron du 6ème régiment de lanciers polonais, puis aide de camp du général Michel Sokolnicki puis général de brigade d’artillerie polonaise
- élu député à la Diète du Royaume de Pologne, il propose en 1829 de remettre aux paysans la terre qu'ils cultivent. C'est sur son initiative qu'est votée la détronisation du tsar Nicolas de Russie le 25 janvier 1831 qui a marqué le début de la guerre polono-russe.

The November Uprising (1830–31), Polish–Russian War 1830–31 also known as the Cadet Revolution, was an armed rebellion in the heartland of partitioned Poland against the Russian Empire. The uprising began on 29 November 1830 in Warsaw when the young Polish officers from the local Army of the Congress Poland's military academy revolted, led by lieutenant Piotr Wysocki. They were soon joined by large segments of Polish society, and the insurrection spread to the territories of Lithuania, western Belarus, and the right-bank of Ukraine. Despite some local successes, the uprising was eventually crushed by a numerically superior Imperial Russian Army under Ivan Paskevich. Czar Nicholas I decreed that henceforth Poland was an integral part of Russia, with Warsaw little more than a military garrison, its university closed.
